Nature walks/Trails

Step beyond the lodge and discover the tranquil side of Kibale on Guereza Canopy Lodge’s private nature trail. Set along the edge of Kibale National Park, the trail offers guests an opportunity to experience the forest at a slower pace, surrounded by tropical vegetation, towering trees and the rich sounds of the canopy.The trail has two sections, allowing guests to choose an experience that suits their time and level of activity. The shorter route takes approximately one to two hours and is ideal for a relaxed morning, afternoon and evening walk. For guests who would like to spend more time exploring the forest environment, the longer section takes approximately two to ten hours, providing a deeper and more immersive nature experience.

Guereza Reforestation Project

Established in 2024, the Guereza Reforestation Project is a conservation initiative by Guereza Canopy Lodge dedicated to restoring indigenous tree cover along the edges of Kibale National Park around Kihoima. The project responds to growing pressures on the forest landscape, including agricultural encroachment, deforestation, fragmented wildlife habitats, declining wildlife feeding areas and human-wildlife conflict. More than 1,000 indigenous trees have already been planted, with particular attention given to indigenous species that contribute to the natural ecology of Kibale and provide food, shelter and movement corridors for chimpanzees, monkeys, forest birds and other wildlife.

Community Enhancement Projects (CEP)

These are programmes and projects that are aimed at enhancing community capability to diversify income from activities that endeavour the ecosystem of the area. The enhancement projects are created to enable the community engage into other sustainable income generating activities.

The projects are the Bee-keeping project which is aimed at creating resilient and sustainable income for the community away from poor agro practices that degrade the environment. Additionally, the pond project is another project for building community engagement in tourism and enhancement of experiences in Kihoima.

At 795 square kilometres, Kibale Forest National park has the highest density of primates in the whole world and is the best place to track Man’s closest cousin the Chimpanzee.

Each room has the option of double, twin or even triple beds available, all equipped with sits and a table with complementary drinking water. Bathrooms are spacious, with hot water thanks to our Eco-friendly solar water heaters.
